Rock Salt

Rock salt is the most economical product to melt ice and loosen packed snow. It is made up of a mixture of large and small crystals of naturally occurring sodium chloride. The small crystals melt instantly, while the larger ones provide traction and dissolve steadily to provide relief longer. Rock salt works best at temperatures above 5 degrees Fahrenheit and should be used sparingly, about 1/2 lb per square yard.

Calcium Chorlide - peladow® and flake

Calcium choride, in pellet form or in flake, melts snow and ice very quickly, over 3 times faster than rock salt. It lasts longer as well and can work down to -25 Fahrenheit. It leaves no powdery residue and causes few problems to vegetation and concrete.

Jiffy Melt®

Jiffy Melt is a specially formulated blend of magnesium chloride and sodium chloride. Jiffy Melt works below 0 degrees Fahrenheit, is easier on concrete, and leaves no residue. The unique formulation leads to fast action and lower application rates.
